Emmaüs Campüs, the solidarity store to help students in the 13ᵉ arrondissement.
In the student district of Paris-Diderot University, a new solidarity store dedicated to students opened its doors on February 4.
In a 130m2 space, Emmaüs Campüs offers second-hand clothes, accessories, decoration and books at prices students can afford.
Those wishing to do so can make donations or become volunteers, to help reduce student poverty. Student poverty is on the increase every year, and has worsened since the start of the health crisis. Emmaüs wanted to get "closer to young people" by opening stores close to universities. Here, students can find second-hand or new items tailored to their everyday needs. Special sales will be organized for students, "with adapted pricing policies".
Florentin Letissier, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of the social economy, believes that "this project makes a lot of sense". He adds that today, more than one student in five lives below the poverty line. The aim of this new community center is to "enable students with limited purchasing power to buy clothes and equipment".

Paris's most famous markets
Antiquarian and used book market
Founded in 1987, the Marché du livre ancien et d'occasion brings together some fifty booksellers every Saturday and Sunday in a historic site: a pavilion built in the 19th century in the Baltard style. The only one of its kind in Europe, this market, which runs alongside the Parc G. Brassens in the 15th arrondissement, has since established itself as a not-to-be-missed event for professionals, bibliophiles and collectors from France and abroad, as well as for readers of all kinds who love books and the written word.
Flea markets
Every Saturday and Sunday of the year, holidays included, come rain or shine, the 380 merchants, all professionals of the Puces de Vanves, will welcome you and offer you their finds of the week: furniture and objects from the 18th, 19th, 1900s, Art Deco, 50s and 70s; garden furniture, ironwork and tools; lighting; tableware; glassware and silverware; antique clothes and textiles; antique and costume jewelry; cameras, phonographs and radios; books and old papers; coins and medals; paintings, drawings and engravings; photographs and postcards; curiosities, toys and folk art; religious objects; Oriental art; African art, etc.
This traditional market has been in existence since 1860. Here, with a little luck, you can still find new or old objects, clothes and accessories for just a few euros. To do so, you have to know how to search and browse through aisles full of second-hand goods, hardware, spare parts and flashy knick-knacks... A huge bric-a-brac, the Porte de Montreuil flea market is a small paradise for bargain hunters. Clothes, knick-knacks, small furniture, spices, books, sporting goods, tools... you'll find it all, at all prices, whether new or old. On the Porte de Montreuil traffic circle, the market begins with specialized vintage stalls. Leather jackets, sixties shirts, military fatigues, clothes from the 50s to the 80s, old lace, hats, pre-war accessories...
The world's leading fashion, antiques and second-hand market, the Marché aux puces de Clignancourt is world-famous. Spread over 3 hectares, 2,500 stalls offer antique furniture, unusual and vintage items... to the delight of bargain hunters, collectors and strollers. Open all year round, Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, Sundays from 10 am to 6:30 pm and Mondays from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
